Who we are
The foundation team, led by the Director, executes its mission through strategic, proactive grant-making, research and programmes.
The Generation Foundation’s Board of Trustees is responsible for governance and strategic direction in partnership with the foundation team.
Grace Eddy joined as Director of the Generation Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Generation Investment Management, in 2016. Previously, Grace worked for J.P. Morgan and a number of community development and research organisations where she examined the intersection of environmental impact and social outcomes.
Grace received a BA in Philosophy and Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin, and an MSc in Sustainable Development from Edinburgh University.
Maria Elena Anker
Maria Elena Anker
Maria Elena Anker joined the Generation Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Generation Investment Management, in 2021 as an Associate. Previously, Maria Elena was a consultant with Developing World Markets, an impact investment firm. She also worked at two microfinance institutions, Banco Solidario in Ecuador and Pro Mujer in New York, and as an emerging markets fixed income research analyst at Salomon Smith Barney.
Maria Elena received a BA in English and Economics from Boston College and an MS in Foreign Service and an MA in Economics from Georgetown University.
Alison Paton joined the Generation Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Generation Investment Management, in 2018 as an Associate. Previously, Alison worked for abrdn, the global investment manager. Joining abrdn as a graduate, Alison spent time in roles across the investment business, finance and distribution before investment communications where she focused on fixed income and sustainability.
Alison has a bachelor's degree in Scots and English Law from the University of Dundee.
David Blood is a Founding Partner and Senior Partner of Generation Investment Management. Previously, David spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs including serving as CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. David received a BA from Hamilton College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
David is chairman of Just Climate and Social Finance UK and co-chair of the World Resources Institute and on the board of On the Edge Conservation. David is also a life trustee of Hamilton College.
Paul Coates joined Generation Investment Management in 2008 and is a member of the Trading Team. Previously, Paul worked in the European equities team at Schroder Investment Management.
Paul received a BA in Business Economics from the University of Hertfordshire.
Esther Gilmore joined Generation Investment Management in 2007 and is Global Head of the Client Team. Previously, Esther was an analyst at Sustainable Asset Management, a sustainability consultant at Matrix+ International and a financial analyst at ING Barings and Barclays.
Esther received a BCom/BA from The University of Queensland, a master’s degree in Environment from The University of Melbourne, and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Esther serves on the Global Advisory Council of Tobacco Free Portfolios and is a member of the European Council for Global Conservation, The Nature Conservancy.
Phillip Harris joined Generation Investment Management in 2006 and is Head of Generation’s Control Team, managing control oversight, client service and external vendor management. Previously, Phillip worked in a variety of roles including portfolio administration, control and analysis, and account management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Datastream.
Phillip graduated with honours from Leicester University with a bachelor’s degree in Geography.

Ghessycka Lucien Bennett
Ghessycka Lucien Bennett joined Generation Investment Management at its founding in 2004 and is a member of the Legal and Compliance Team. Ghessycka serves as Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the US business. Previously, Ghessycka worked in a variety of positions at Generation across the Client, Compliance and Control teams.
Ghessycka received a BA in International Affairs and French Literature and Language from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the same university. Ghessycka also studied at the Université de Haute Bretagne and is fluent in French and Haitian Creole.
Rema Rajeswaran joined Generation Investment Management in 2006 and is a member of the Global Equity strategy, covering the Global Healthcare sector. Previously, Rema was an analyst in the healthcare practice at Datamonitor.
Rema received a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a master’s in Economics from Oxford University. Rema speaks fluent Malay.
Anthony Woolf joined Generation Investment Management in 2016 and is a member of the Growth Equity strategy. Previously, Anthony was a vice president at Warburg Pincus where he worked on private equity investments across Europe and an investment banking analyst at Morgan Stanley. Anthony has been involved with Generation’s investments in Andela, Elation Health, Pivot Bio, Proterra and SOPHiA Genetics.
Anthony received an MChem in Chemistry from Oxford University.
