Overview
Carbon Tracker is a not-for-profit think tank researching the impact of climate change on financial markets.
A surprising data gap exists that limits global action on climate change. Until recently, no single data source capturing global fossil fuel reserves existed. Without this key data, many policy efforts focus only on reducing demand and consumption of oil, gas and coal.
Our funding is supporting Carbon Tracker to close this data gap by building this data source. The Global Registry of Fossil Fuels is the first public database of fossil fuel production and reserves worldwide that tracks their impact on the carbon budget.
Our funding is supporting the build, launch and upkeep of the new registry, as well as the production of analysis and targeted dissemination of findings from this new dataset so that businesses, governments and NGOs have access to this critical data.
