Overview
The Net Zero Lawyers Alliance (NZLA) is a membership initiative for legal firms committed to global climate objectives. It explores how the law can become an enabling force for investor climate action and amplifies its findings through its network.
The law can – and must – enable a just and equitable transition to net zero. Investors and corporates need legal advice aligned to 1.5-degrees that supports their climate ambitions and possibly obliges action where the motivation is missing.
Members of NZLA – commercial legal firms – participate in ‘Accelerator Groups’ focused on breaking down legal barriers to decarbonisation and using the law to create an enabling environment for the transition to a low-carbon economy to occur.
Our support will help NZLA run a new Accelerator Group dedicated to fiduciary duties. This group will produce guidance that assists investors and companies to understand the existing legal obligation to consider the impacts associated with climate change.
