Overview
The Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) is a leading network of institutional investors in Australia and New Zealand. Its members empower the region’s largest funds to embed climate into core investment decisions and real-world action. Members include the nations’ largest superannuation and retail funds, specialist investors, and advisory groups.
IGCC was born in 2005 from the foresight of an early group of investors which recognised climate change posed not just an environmental challenge, but a material financial risk.
Building on the successes of IGCC’s Climate Action Pays Off campaign in Australia, our partnership with IGCC, and its related Asia Investor Group on Climate Change network, aims to help investors develop sustainability advocacy and communication strategies in key markets, with a focus on Asia.
Our partnership takes inspiration from A Legal Framework for Impact (LFI), the landmark report commissioned by Generation Foundation, PRI and UNEP FI, which found advocacy is an important tool available to investors to fulfil their fiduciary duties and mitigate systemic risks to their portfolios, in combination with asset allocation and stewardship. Research shows advocacy remains the most under-developed tool deployed by investors.
